The British Association of Sclerotherapists (BAS) announces details of its 2026 Annual Conference, which will take place on 12–13 May at the Macdonald Windsor Hotel.
For the first time, the conference will be delivered as a two-day event, reflecting the continued growth and increasing complexity of sclerotherapy practice across both medical and aesthetic settings.
The BAS Annual Conference is the UK’s leading educational meeting dedicated exclusively to sclerotherapy and venous care, attracting clinicians, nurses and practitioners involved in vein health. This year’s expanded format allows for a broader, more in-depth programme while maintaining a strong clinical and educational focus.
Commenting on the development, Alastair Lewis, Chairman of BAS, said:
“The BAS Annual Conference has grown consistently year on year, both in attendance and in the range of professionals it attracts. We are seeing increasing engagement from aesthetic nurses alongside medically trained clinicians, which reflects how vein treatment is evolving in practice.
Expanding to a two-day format allows us to address both the medical and aesthetic dimensions of sclerotherapy in greater depth, while remaining firmly grounded in clinical standards, patient safety and consent. The BAS remains unique in offering education dedicated specifically to sclerotherapy from this perspective.”
The 2026 programme has been designed to reflect the full spectrum of contemporary vein treatment:
Covering venous reflux, varicose veins, venous ulceration and complications of venous disease, with sessions addressing clinical decision-making, combination techniques, medico-legal considerations and emerging approaches in vein treatment.
Dedicated to aesthetic vein treatments, including spider veins, facial veins and hand veins, alongside sessions on best practice, patient selection, complaints management and regulatory considerations within aesthetic practice.
The conference will feature contributions from national and international experts in venous disease and aesthetic sclerotherapy.
In addition to the main conference, the BAS will host an Advanced Foam Sclerotherapy Workshop on Tuesday, 12 May 2026. The workshop will feature three methods of sclerotherapy: The English Method by Philip Coleridge Smith, The Irish Method by Alastair Lewis and The Welsh Method by Huw Davies.
This live, interactive bedside masterclass will provide an intensive practical exploration of foam sclerotherapy techniques, supported by the 2026 edition of the course manual.
Additional Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities will be available, including Basic Life Support and Sepsis Training, and Laser Safety. All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance to contribute towards their CPD requirements.
There will be opportunities for professional networking throughout both days of the conference, and also at the Gala Dinner taking place on the evening of Tuesday, 12th May.
The event will be available in person and also via livestream, with a range of ticket options available. An early bird discount is available until 30th April 2026, and BAS members receive an additional discounted rate applied to their tickets.
