Choosing an aesthetic treatment is a big decision. Before booking, you want to know who will be treating you, what qualifications they have and whether the right safety measures are in place.
At ConsultingRoom.com, we have criteria that clinics must meet to be listed. This includes checking relevant professional registrations and, where required, additional approvals for treatments or premises. We also have specific requirements for clinics offering injectable treatments, including appropriate prescribing and clinical oversight.

Who are the professional bodies?
Different checks apply depending on the practitioner, treatment and where it takes place.
General Medical Council
Registers and regulates UK doctors. They make sure your doctor is officially qualified and licenced to treat you.
Nursing and Midwifery Council
Registers and regulates UK nurses and midwives. They set strict standards and track which practitioners are officially qualified to prescribe and administer cosmetic treatments like Botox and fillers.
General Dental Council
Registers and regulates UK dentists, who can prescribe and inject Botox if they are appropriately trained and insured.
Care Quality Commission
An independent health inspector in England. They legally inspect clinics providing surgical procedures like facelifts or liposuction, but they do not regulate everyday anti-wrinkle injections or lip fillers.
Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners
A government-backed, voluntary register for the cosmetic industry. It helps patients find practitioners who meet high industry standards, though joining is not a legal requirement
