Desoface and Desobody

Product Summary

Desoface® and Desobody® are used to reduce pockets of fat using a treatment technique called injection lipolysis, lipotherapy or fat dissolving injections.

Targeted areas of localised fatty tissues such as on the stomach or under the chin will be injected with the product during a course of treatments to break down the fat cells.

What does it contain?

The active ingredient in Desoface and Desobody is sodium deoxycholate (deoxycholic acid) which is a medical detergent which breaks down fat cells.

How does it work?

The sodium deoxycholate dissolves the outer membranes of fat cells (adipose cells) so that they can no longer hold their contents (the lipids or liquid fat). The lipids are therefore released and naturally excreted by the body over several weeks.

What happens during treatment?

Treatment is performed under local anaesthesia (to numb the area) and uses a thin cannula (much like a blunt needle) which is placed under the skin through a single insertion point. The product is then evenly delivered in a fab-like pattern across the area being targeted for fat reduction. The amount of product required will depend on the size of the area being treated.

Each treatment session takes approximately 45-60 minutes

What do they claim to treat?

Ideal candidates for treatment are those who have a normal body weight and body mass index (BMI), who may be just slightly overweight, and have localised areas of stubborn fat.

Desobody is aimed at treating these small areas of fat around their knees, stomach, hips, buttocks, arms back or inner and outer thighs. It therefore targets all the common complaints of bingo wings, love handles, saddlebags etc.

Desoface is used for under the chin area to treat a double chin, jowling and a fatty neck.

Repeat treatments are required and depending on the size and specific location of the area being treated, you will usually be recommended to have 2-4 treatment sessions, spaced 4-8 weeks apart to achieve the optimum results for fat reduction.

Desoface and Desobody are not a solution for weight-loss nor a slimming aid.

Duration of effects

Fat loss can take 3-6 weeks to become evident., with the area continuing to improve over several months.

Reported side effects

Following treatment, you will have a small entry wound for the cannula which will heal over very quickly. You can expect redness and swelling in the area where the product was placed as it gets to work on disrupting the fat cells and they release their lipid contents.

You should also expect some bruising and mild to moderate pain in the first 24-72 hours, which can be managed with over-the-counter pain medications. You can usually return to your normal routine but must avoid treatments such as massage for one week.

Your body will slowly metabolise and expel the released lipids from the fat cells over the following weeks.

You may be recommended to wear compression garments for a few days post-treatment to help with swelling and achieving the best results from treatment.

Costs
