Question: V shape on forehead after Botox

Hi,

I’ve been told I have very strong facial muscles and each time I get Botox I think they are more prominent on my forehead.
In bright light it looks like two upside down vs starting from each eyebrow.

I think it’s my muscles but each practitioner doesn’t really give me a straight answer. I do go back for the top up but I feel it’s still noticeable.

Can anyone tell me what this is likely to be and a way of fixing it??

Answer: Good Morning,

We've been advised that sometimes the muscles surrounding the injection sites can become hyper active and create an almost v like formation around the area which was treated.

Without proper consultation it's very difficult to advise further.

Kind Regards

Answer: Hello,

Botox treatment reduces the facial muscle's ability to contract and cause lines. However, placement and depth of the botox during treatment is important, as this can determine if some muscle activity remains after treatment.

If you're noticing new lines after treatment with botox, this may be down to an insufficiently widespread injection pattern, or perhaps that the needle depth during injection bypassed the muscle layer altogether. This could then result in some areas still experiencing muscle contraction, leading to facial lines.

If you would like to book a consultation to discuss this in more detail, please use the link in my bio.

Warm regards,

Answer: I doubt it’s you- are you being treated by a doctor?. “Frontalis” (the forehead muscle) muscles do have variation but it’s likely that the injection points are wrong. Happy to see you at my clinic. Even if it’s just for a free consultation and if you like what I say then I can treat you there and then.

Answer: Hello Sarah,

I hope all is well with you.

Thank you for your email and question about botox treatment.
It sounds like you are experiencing some pulling from active muscles causing a V shape, can I check if this is above the brow? If so a simple tweak between 14-21 after treatment will be able to settle it down. Feel free to give us a call on 02081503400 if you would like to discuss further and one of our doctors can see you for a consultation.

Best wishes,
Lavinia

Answer: Hi Sarah,
If you are getting lines above the brow in an inverted “V” shape this is usually because of Botox placement. A lot of practitioners will be reluctant to inject Botox into the lateral frontalis (lateral forehead muscle) for fear of causing the brow to drop. There are ways around this and with strategic placement of Botox these lines can usually be avoided. If you book a face to face consultation with me I can assess the issue and explain how we can get around it. Warm wishes, Dr Hazel
