BioSkin Jetting was first introduced into the UK in 2003. It is manufactured by a Belgian company called Pascaud Beauty Innovations and was recently relaunched into the UK with an updated system by Sterex Electrolysis International Ltd.
It is a precise, non-ablative treatment method for targeting lines and scarring with minimal risk and long-lasting results using a medical technique called subscision. The ability to precisely utilise the needle probe means that it leaves the skin surrounding the imperfection entirely untouched, only treating what is required. The controlled trauma caused initiates a healing reaction and the formation of new collagen to minimise the imperfection. Heat can also be added to aid the natural would healing response via the BioSkin Smoothing treatment option.
Bioskin Jetting is based on needle subscision. BioSkin Smoothing uses electrical micro-current.
The general principle or mode of action behind BioSkin Jetting is known as subscision. Subscision is where you use an instrument, usually a needle, and insert it through the surface of the skin underneath areas of depressed tissue such as scars or wrinkle lines. The needle is then moved around under the area to cause breaks in the fibrous tissues which are tethering a scar or wrinkle to the structures below. The act of breaking these strands of scar tissue formation releases the skin above so tethering is no longer a concern, and the trauma caused creates a natural wound healing response.
It is perfect for the treatment of individual wrinkles and small skin imperfections.
It works by creating a specific and controlled inflammatory response in the papillary dermal layer of the skin, directly below the imperfection. The papillary dermis is where collagen fibres live. This action causes a regeneration of the connective tissue, through the fibroblast cells being stimulated to produce new collagen fibres to rejuvenate and repair the imperfection. This new connective tissue, will plump up the skin beneath the wrinkle or scar, giving the skin a smoother appearance.
Sometimes an additional option known as BioSkin Smoothing may also be offered as part of the treatment programme, for addressing deeper wrinkles. This delivers a special electrical micro-current which is administered via a sterile, disposable, 24 carat gold tipped wand. This adds heat to the area, aiding the circulation and augmenting the healing response initiated by the subscision.

BioSkin Jetting should only be carried out by trained medical professionals such as doctors or nurses or by advanced trained aestheticians or beauty therapists. Your practitioner should have relevant certifications, and should be able to answer any of your questions.
This treatment is ideal for targeting wrinkles and skin imperfections, including hypertrophic (raised) and atrophic (sunken) scars, like acne or chicken pox scarring. It is suitable for the treatment of wrinkles on the forehead, upper lip, cheeks and around the mouth and eyes.
The results of BioSkin Jetting should be long lasting, as the process reduces the biological age of the skin by stimulating the production of new collagen to rejuvenate the area, but the skin`s natural ageing process does continue following treatment. Individual lifestyle factors will have an effect on the longevity of the results, for example, the results for heavy smokers may not last as long as non-smokers. You may be encouraged to visit for a short follow-up or top-up treatments, if a wrinkle or blemish returns after a year or so.
This treatment is considered to be a low risk procedure. It is a very precise method that only targets the area underneath a wrinkle or imperfection, leaving the surrounding tissue completely untouched.
Usually a numbing cream or topical anaesthetic is used before treatment to reduce any discomfort whilst the treatment is performed. Most people will experience some redness or red marks, like scratches, in the treatment area, but this should only last a few days and can be camouflaged with specialist make-up. The area may be sore to the touch.
It is important to consult with your GP before undergoing any cosmetic procedure, in case there are any underlying health conditions that affect your suitability for a BioSkin Jetting treatment. However, as long as you are generally in a good state of health, and don’t have any active skin conditions or infections in the area to be treated, there are few medical reasons why you should not undergo this treatment.
Those with a history of keloid scarring are not suitable for treatment, or those with very dark skin tones, where pigmentation side effects are a concern.
If BioSkin Smoothing is used, this cannot be used on individuals will internal implants, such as pacemakers.
As with many cosmetic procedures, it may not be advised for women who are pregnant or breast feeding to undergo treatment.
A topical anaesthetic will be applied to the treatment area to minimise any pain during the procedure. A fine needle probe is inserted underneath the wrinkle or scar, and moved in a massage action, to trigger the inflammatory response.
Individual treatments usually last between 10 and 45 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. The total number of treatments needed for the best visible results are dependent on age, lifestyle and depth of the wrinkles or scarring. There is usually a two-week interval between treatment sessions, and a programme of seven treatments is often recommended for wrinkle treatment, for example.
Following treatment, your practitioner may cover any resultant reddening of the skin with specialist camouflage concealers. Topical creams containing vitamins A, C and E are recommended as part of the aftercare regime, to speed up recovery. Extra sun protection with a high SPF cream will also be necessary in the weeks following treatment.
The price of BioSkin Jetting treatment starts at around £45 for a ten-minute session for a small imperfection, ranging to between £350 to £475 for a 7-session course. Fewer or longer duration sessions may be required depending on the imperfection being addressed, and a price is usually quoted accordingly. Treatments will be slightly more expensive if BioSkin Smoothing is included too.
According to practitioners, positive results can be visible after the first treatment, with optimal results seen after full treatment regime. The number of sessions required will be determined by your practitioner during your consultation as all patients and imperfections are different.
