Question: Information needed.

I have Dysport injections for Dystonia through Neurology Dept at local hospital, in my left shoulder.
I also have a Freestyle Libra 2 sensor, which I have on my right arm.
My question is :
If I move the sensor to my left arm, will this affect the Botox site ?

Answer: Hi Karen,

Thank you for your question.
The FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor is placed just under the skin on the back of the upper arm, whereas your Dysport for dystonia is being injected into specific muscles by your neurology team.
In general, wearing the sensor on the same arm would not be expected to change how Dysport works. However, because the exact location and depth of your Dysport injections will be specific to your treatment, we would recommend checking with your neurology team before moving the sensor to your left arm.
They will know exactly where your Dysport is being injected and can advise you where it would be safest to position the Libre sensor so that the areas do not interfere with one another.
We hope this helps.

Answer: The FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor measures glucose in the interstitial fluid just under the skin, whereas Dysport is injected into the muscle. So, in general, wearing a Libre sensor on the left arm should not affect the Dysport injection or its effect.

However, I would avoid putting the sensor directly over or very close to a recent Dysport injection site. If you’re unsure exactly where the Dysport was injected, it would be sensible to check with your neurologist or the clinic that administers your Dysport.
