Top Tips for Choosing a Cosmetic Clinic and Treatment

Dr Mountford MBBS MBCAM qualified in London in 1985, where she initially worked as an anaesthetist before training as a cosmetic medical practitioner.

BBC News reported on 6th November that “Minor cosmetic procedures such as Botox injections and dermal fillers are ‘very safe’ when carried out by trained professionals, say researchers”.

A key point raised by the report was the fact that it has become increasingly easy for anyone to offer minor cosmetic procedures without thorough regulation.

Personally I am delighted the report has recognised that minor cosmetic procedures such as Botox injections and dermal fillers are ‘very safe’ when carried out by trained professionals.

At my clinic, The Cosmetic Skin Clinic we have been providing non-surgical treatments for many years. Each and every one of our medical practitioners have advanced training and years of experience in aesthetic medicine.

Tips to use to find the correct clinic and treatment that's right for you

It is encouraging that Health Minister Dr. Dan Poulter has confirmed that new training standards for non-surgical cosmetic procedures are being developed to make sure that no one is given fillers or Botox by someone who isn’t qualified.

It may be useful when considering cosmetic treatments to follow the following basic guidelines:

  1. Thoroughly research your Practitioner/Clinic
  2. Enquire regarding the safety and efficacy of the products they are proposing to use, and whether they are (U.S.) FDA approved.
  3. Ask to see the practitioners own before/after photos
  4. Avoid being incentivised by ‘bargains’ or cut-price deals.
