Dermal fillers may be something you’ve heard of, but do you really know what they treat and how they work? Being informed of what to expect, product options available and how practitioners ensure safe results is absolutely essential before undergoing a dermal filler procedure.

That’s why we’ve put together Pure Perfection Clinic’s Ultimate Guide to Dermal Fillers.

What Are Dermal Fillers and How Do They Work?

There are a few types of dermal fillers, which are made up of different substances so work in unique ways. These include:

  • Hyaluronic acid (HA): these types of fillersuse a lab-manufactured version of HA, which is a molecule naturally found in the human body. It acts in the same way – attracting water when injected into the skin, allowing it not only improve hydration, but add lost structure and restore volume for an immediate result that can last up to 18 months.
  • Biostimulatory fillers: these use ingredients that stimulate collagen production to add structure, decrease wrinkles and enhance overall skin quality over a period at least three months. There are few different forms that include calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA), poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA) and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), which generally last longer than HA – CaHA and PLLA up to 2.5 years and PMMA up to 5 years.
  • Autologous fillers: these require a more invasive approach, as a surgeon will take fat from your body and inject it into the area requiring volume restoration. While results can be permanent, this type of filler injection comes with a lot more risk.

Here at Pure Perfection Clinic, we only offer treatment with HA and biostimulatory fillers as we find they offer beautifully natural results with minimal downtime and high patient satisfaction.

What Can Dermal Fillers Treat?

The benefits of dermal fillers are huge!

They can be used to lift and replace lost volume in sagging cheeks, tighten and strengthen skin, plump thin lips, fill hollows under the eyes and on the temples, contour the lower face for a more defined jawline and can even straighten a bumpy nose.

What Results Can I Expect With Dermal Fillers?

Following a dermal filler procedure, you can expect to see a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance. Thanks to the Pure Perfection Clinic team’s years of experience and advanced injecting skills, your results will appear natural while you’ll look like your more youthful self.

Sometimes we may suggest combining dermal filler treatment with other procedures such as chemical peels, energy-based treatments or advanced facials to achieve optimal results.

Medical-grade skincare is always recommended to boost skin quality and complement your dermal filler procedure.

Are There Any Side Effects of Dermal Filler Treatments?

Are There Any Side Effects of Dermal Filler Treatments?

Side effects to dermal filler treatments are minimal. Your skin may appear slightly red and swollen immediately after your procedure, while feeling a little tender. This will all calm down after a few hours.

Sometimes you can experience bruising, which can take a few days to resolve, but it can be easily managed with arnica cream and covered with make-up after 24 hours.
