EndyMed 3DEEP™

Product summary

The EndyMed 3DEEP RF (radiofrequency) systems are manufactured by EndyMed Medical Ltd who are based in Israel and distributed in the UK & Ireland by Aestheticare®, a division of Ferndale Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

The EndyMed Machine

Given FDA clearance in March 2011, EndyMed’s 3DEEP RF applicators use radiofrequency technology to firm, tighten and lift sagging skin on the face and body by heating the collagen in the dermis. The energy from the heat delivered to the collagen causes it to shrink, which immediately alters the appearance of skin, while also triggering the production of new collagen. This collagen remodelling helps to make the skin look younger and firmer, tightening loose or lax skin and improving tone and texture.

Radiofrequency technology differs to more traditional skin resurfacing technologies, such as lasers, in that the results are not affected by skin colour, (it is suitable for all types) and that it penetrates deep within the dermis to heat the tissues and produce increases in tissue volume.

Clinical data shows that 3DEEP RF technology improved wrinkles in the majority of patients by a grade of at least one on the Fitzpatrick Wrinkle Assessment Scale.

Technical specifications

EndyMed use patented technology to deliver radiofrequency energy to the collagen within the dermis without causing any damage to the surrounding tissues or the outer layer of the dermis. The radiofrequency technology used by the 3DEEP applicators differs to traditional radiofrequency techniques in that it is very controlled, allowing the practitioner to deliver targeted energy to the collagen. It uses multiple bipolar radiofrequency electrodes.

In monopolar RF (single pole or electrode), for example, energy flows throughout the skin and the cells of the body uncontrolled, which can be painful for the patient. It also requires that the skin be cooled during the process. In bipolar RF (two poles or electrodes) and multi-polar RF, energy flows through the skin superficially between the two poles and the process also requires skin cooling. EndyMed 3DEEP RF applicators control the energy flow, causing minimal impact on the skin, which means that no cooling is required.

The output frequency is 1MHz.

EndyMed produce a number of products and applicators which fit on to the device and are specifically designed to reduce the appearance of ageing, improve skin elasticity, reduce cellulite, as well as other lumps and bumps and improve contours of the face and body, including:

• EndyMed 3DEEP Facial Tightening applicator provides deep dermal heating for use on the face and neck areas, including jowls to smooth wrinkles, tighten, lift and firm the skin.
• EndyMed 3DEEP Body Tightening applicator provides deep dermal heating for use on smaller parts of the body, such as the décolletage, arms and knees to tighten and lift the skin.
• EndyMed 3DEEP Body Contouring applicator providers deep dermal heating for use on larger parts of the body to reduce cellulite and to improve contouring, including on the thighs, flanks, bottom and tummy.
• EndyMed 3DEEP Fractional Skin Resurfacing applicator combines micro-fractional radio frequency skin resurfacing with the deep dermal heating to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scarring and sun damage on the face, décolletage and backs of hands.

Treatment parameters can be personalised by the practitioner according to your skin type and the area being targeted for treatment.

How does it work?

EndyMed’s 3DEEP Skin Tightening and Contouring applicators use a specially designed algorithm to manage the energy flow between certain sets of electrodes. Adjacent magnetic fields create repelling forces which help to force the energy into a vertical flow toward the targeted cells and tissue, which reduces the impact on the outer layers of the dermis, eliminating the need for skin cooling, which greatly enhances patient comfort.

License status

European CE Mark certified and U.S. FDA (Food & Drug Administration) approved in March of 2011.

Should be used by

EndyMed’s 3DEEP devices should only be used by trained medical professionals, cosmetic surgeons and beauty therapists.

What is it used to treat?

EndyMed’s 3DEEP devices are used to treat a wide range of skin complaints, including: lax, loose or sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, scarring and cellulite. The radiofrequency technology improves contouring, resulting in skin that looks visibly firmer, brighter and tighter, as well as more youthful.

How long does it last?

Improvement in the quality of your skin following EndyMed 3DEEP treatment should be long-lasting, provided that you maintain a healthy lifestyle and undertake regular exercise, alongside a healthy diet. You should also use adequate sun protection and maintain a proper skin care regimen. Your practitioner will advise you of this.

Side effects & risks

3DEEP RF treatments are virtually painless and are free from side effects. Skin temperature hovers around 40°C and will be monitored constantly throughout treatment, which is approximately the temperature of a hot shower so should be comfortable for the vast majority of people.

Slight redness could occur at the treated area for about an hour or two following treatment.

3DEEP Fractional Skin Resurfacing can cause some minor swelling and redness for a few hours following the treatment. After a few days, small scabs or crusts may occur on the surface of the skin, but these should disappear within 5 to 7 days and can easily be covered with makeup.

Not to be used in

As long as you are generally healthy and don’t have any skin diseases or infections in the area treated, there are few medical reasons why you should not undergo 3DEEP RF treatment. Your practitioner should take a full medical history.

The treatment is not suitable for anyone with epilepsy or fitted with a pacemaker or metal implants within their body, including dental implants or for pregnant or breast feeding mothers. A history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring may also make you unsuitable for EndyMed 3DEEP RF treatment.

Dark skin tones or tanned skin can all be treated with 3DEEP RF.

Treatment regime

The time taken for an EndyMed 3DEEP RF treatment session will depend upon the size of the area and indication being treated, but will generally take approximately 30-45 minutes.

If you are undergoing 3DEEP RF treatment you will have between 6 - 10 treatment sessions in intervals of 1-2 weeks. Following the second treatment, you should start to see an improvement in your skin quality.

If you are undergoing 3DEEP Fractional Skin Resurfacing treatments you will be able to see visible results after one treatment, with further improvements over the following weeks. Dependent upon the severity of the skin complaint, your practitioner may recommend that you have an additional 1 to 2 treatments approximately 3 months after the first treatment.

Cost of treatment

The cost of EndyMed 3DEEP RF treatments depends on the size and number of area(s) being treated and the indication being targeted. They can range from approximately £100 - £250 per session.
