The register of Treatments You Can Trust (TYCT) has announced that it has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) for Health and Social Care, an independent statutory body, accountable to Parliament.

Patients, service users and the public are able to choose a doctor, dentist or registered nurse practising injectable cosmetic treatments who belong to a register vetted and approved by the PSA.

Under the Accredited Registers programme, practitioners on the TYCT register will be able to display the Accredited Register quality mark, a sign that they belong to a register which meets the Professional Standards Authority's robust standards.

Sally Taber, Director, Treatments You Can Trust said:

"The quality mark will give extra peace of mind for anyone looking for a doctor, dentist or registered nurse, letting them know that anyone who holds the Quality Mark is committed to high standards. Treatments You Can Trust is pleased to offer the quality mark to doctors, dentists or registered nurses providing injectable cosmetic treatments that meet the far reaching standards of our register, as approved by the Professional Standards Authority."

Treatments You Can Trust's Chair, Baroness Morris of Bolton said:

"This accreditation is a significant advance in patient confidence in cosmetic injectable treatments. Since 2010, Treatments You Can Trust has pioneered the registration of doctors, dentists and registered nurses who practice injectable cosmetic treatments and who meet our robust standards.

It is appropriate that the Treatments You Can Trust Register has now been assessed and accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under its Accredited Registers programme. People now have the option of choosing injectable cosmetic practitioners from a register that itself has been stringently vetted and approved and I am delighted that Treatments You Can Trust has received this accreditation and welcome the resulting public benefits."

Harry Cayton, Chief Executive of the Professional Standards Authority said:

"We are very pleased to accredit Treatment You Can Trust's register. Bringing these practitioners into a broad framework of assurance is good for patients, service users and the public and is the best way to promote quality. The programme offers a new layer of protection for people receiving health services, and gives non-surgical cosmetic practitioners the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to good practice."

Accreditation does not imply that the Authority has assessed the merits of individuals on the register. This remains the responsibility of Treatments You Can Trust. Accreditation means that Treatments You Can Trust's register meets the Professional Standards Authority's high standards in governance, standard-setting, education and training, management of the register, complaints handling and information.

Accredited Registers encompass a growing range of occupations and organisations and the Professional Standards Authority may accredit more than one register in any particular occupation. Further information about Accredited Registers is available at www.professionalstandards.org.uk/what-we-do/accredited-registers

This follows on from the earlier PSA accreditation announcement from Save Face, and means that both of the voluntary registers for non-surgical cosmetic treatment providers are now accredited by the PSA.

Consulting Room would like to congratulate Treatments You Can Trust on this significant achievement and their continued strives towards improving patient safety and industry practice standards. Consulting Room Members can display their Treatments You Can Trust accreditation on their clinic profiles.
