Receiving a prestigious national award was a “dream come true” for a cancer campaigner who battled back from adversity to grow one of the most successful skin clinics in Wales and the North West.
For almost two decades, Sara Cheeney, from Llangollen, has been a trailblazer in the UK skincare industry.
Owner of Pure Perfection Clinic in Rossett, near Wrexham and Chester, the culmination of her hard work was rewarded with the Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner of the Year title at the Aesthetics Awards 2025.
Having won the Best Clinic Midlands and Wales category at the 2024 ceremony – again held at London’s Grosvenor House and hosted by TV personality Vernon Kay – she and her colleagues will aim for the treble in 2026 and enter the Best Clinic Team category.
“I am completely overwhelmed,” said Sara, who suffered with psoriasis as a teenager and ran Pure Perfection while recovering from breast cancer and raising her two children, Tomi and Eve.
“I am fortunate enough to have received several awards over the years, but this was the one I held in the highest regard as so many of my peers and mentors have won it, people I hugely respect who were an inspiration to me throughout my career.
“This feels like such a huge accomplishment and is a dream come true, after everything I’ve been through in past years, so thank you to my amazing team, I could not have done it without you.”
With almost 500 entries and 900 guests at the venue, the ceremony brought together the very best in medical aesthetics.
Shannon Kilgariff, editor and content manager of Aesthetics, said “We are absolutely delighted to recognise Sara as winner of the Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner of the Year category.
“At The Aesthetics Awards, we are proud to stand at the forefront of excellence, with our 100 industry-leading judges deciding which individuals, clinics and companies are shining brightest in the UK medical aesthetics specialty.
“Sara is a more than deserving winner for her valuable contributions to the sector.”
An ambassador for the world-famous Hydrafacial aesthetic treatment and UK trainer and key opinion leader for Zo Skin Health – as well as recently undertaking Cadaver training at the illustrious Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh - Sara is “very deserving of the award” according to Pure Perfection’s Clinic Manager, Marianne Burrell.
“This accolade is very personal to Sara, it’s a big deal in the industry and we are thrilled for her, she works tirelessly not only for Pure Perfection but in guiding and mentoring other clinicians UK-wide,” said Marianne.
Reflecting on another busy period for the business, she added: “Sara has been gaining further skills and experience and is now teaching for Neauvia, which is further CPD (Continuing Professional Development) on the facial anatomy.
“The education side of aesthetics is very important to her as a nurse practitioner, and that keeps us at the forefront of the sector as a centre of excellence and benchmark for other clinics.
“That in turn has impacted on our patient numbers, which are as strong as ever as so many people are prioritising their health and aiming to be the best version of themselves, which we will always be here to support.”
Sara Cheeney is a medically trained nurse practitioner, ZO Skin Health Faculty Member & UK Trainer and owner of the award-winning Pure Perfection Clinic in Chester, North Wales.
The experience with her own skin and confidence as a teenager was the starting point of the journey of becoming dual-trained as a nurse and a beauty therapist. Whilst studying the two she found that each profession could significantly enhance the other in terms of greater patient satisfaction. Sara consistently seeks out new knowledge, training and innovative technology that has helped pioneer Pure Perfection Clinic into the award-winning clinic it is today.
