The Perfect Peel is a revolutionary peel that will transform your skin into looking younger, healthier and clearer in just one week, according to the manufacturers.

It is distributed in the UK and Europe by Medica Forte. The Perfect Peel is self-limiting and can be used on all skin types and requires no pre-peel skin preparation. The process takes less than 15 minutes and is virtually pain-free.

The Perfect Peel is founded on a key anti-ageing ingredient never before used in a chemical peel: Glutathione.

Glutathione is the ultimate antioxidant, penetrating deep into the cellular level of the skin to fight oxidative damage and is the anti-ageing answer to premature wrinkling. Glutathione is a very simple molecule that is produced naturally all the time in our bodies.

It is made from glycine, glutamic acid and cystine and is extremely beneficial to us.

Glutathione has been used as an alternative to hydroquinone, as it appears to behave in a similar way, if not better, but without all the potential side effects that can occur with hydroquinone.

Glutathione protects the cells in our body from harmful toxins. It works by clearing the body of free radicals and toxins that can lead to skin problems like hyperpigmentation and melasma, as well as more common concerns like sun or age spots.

Through its ability to protect our cells from those same free radicals, skin whitening is a side effect.

Everything to Know About The Perfect Peel treatment

Peel Programme

The skin is degreased using alcohol or acetone. The Perfect Peel is applied in 3 passes without neutralising, and left on the skin for 6-8 hours, then washed off, or left on the skin overnight.
To follow The Perfect Peel, you are given an individual home treatment pack. This pack contains 2 retinol wipes to be applied on nights 1 and 2, and a vitamin C moisturiser to assist the peeling process and enhance your results.
For ‘normal’ skin The Perfect Peel can be applied 2-3 times a year. For more stubborn conditions, The Perfect Peel can be applied at monthly intervals. A series of 2-3 treatments applied once every 4 weeks will allow for optimal results for more severe skin conditions such as Melasma and active acne.

Peels Not to Be Used In

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
  • Those with an allergy to aspirin
  • Those with active herpes (cold sores) or infected lesions
  • If you are using Roaccutane you will be advised to stop usage 3 months prior to treatment in order to achieve the desired results.

Reported Side Effects

  • You may feel a slight stinging or tingling sensation as the peel is applied which will subside after just a few seconds as the area numbs a little. A cool fan may be provided to aid comfort.
  • Expect some redness post-treatment, like a sunburn, which is temporary and normal, and the skin may also be slightly swollen and may itch for a few days following treatment. Your skin will slough off in thin sheets of epidermal skin that begin around day three and generally are completed by day six or seven. The use of at-home products and moisturisers will help with skin hydration. Make-up may be applied again after day 2. You still will feel sensitive for about a week. Sun exposure should be avoided.
  • Your medical practitioner will discuss these potential side effects in a consultation.

Costs

The cost of a Perfect Peel treatment will depend on the area and condition being treated and the practitioner providing treatment but can range from £350 - £500, depending on the products used within the range.
