Fotona has announced the creation of a new Chief Product Officer (CPO) role, appointing MedTech veteran Alasdair Owen to the position effective August 24, 2026.
Owen will report directly to President and CEO Jeff Duchemin and will be responsible for Fotona's global product and innovation strategy, including Research & Development (R&D), product portfolio strategy and innovation initiatives.
Fotona has more than 60 years of experience in laser and energy-based medical technology and operates in more than 100 countries.
The newly created position will oversee product strategy and R&D as Fotona continues to develop its product portfolio.
According to the company, the role will involve gathering and assessing practitioner and patient insights and using them to inform product development.
The position will also cover work relating to expanding treatment categories and progressing products from initial development through to commercialisation.
Owen will shape Fotona's portfolio strategy, strengthen R&D capabilities and oversee product development across several clinical areas.

Owen joins Fotona from Intuitive, where he most recently led European Product Portfolio Marketing.
His responsibilities there included strategy, growth and innovation for the da Vinci platform and robotic-assisted surgery portfolio.
Owen has experience in product management and development, upstream marketing and commercialisation within MedTech organisations.
His previous work has included managing global product portfolios and working with key opinion leaders on product strategy in healthcare markets.
Owen said the company's history in laser technology and its approach to product development were among the factors that attracted him to the role.

Owen's responsibilities will cover Fotona's activities across aesthetics, dermatology, dentistry, women's health and surgery.
The company says he will work with practitioners internationally to identify emerging clinical needs and use those insights as part of its product development process.
The new position brings responsibility for product portfolio strategy, R&D and innovation initiatives under one senior role.
