The cream of the crop from the aesthetics industry donned their glad rags to celebrate the first annual Aesthetic Awards in Association with Cosmetic News last week.
The James Bond themed event, which took place at Sopwell House, St Albans on December 1, was a huge success with 260 people joining together to celebrate the success stories of the industry.
With a total of 25 categories, the awards were designed to acknowledge those who have gone that extra mile over the last year. The Aesthetic Awards is the only event of its kind in the industry that gives both practitioners and suppliers a chance to celebrate their achievements with their friends and peers.
The awards were voted for by the readers of Cosmetic News magazine and customers of the companies and clinics that entered. Mystery shoppers were also sent out to all of the clinics who entered and the Consumer Choice awards were voted for via MyFaceMyBody. More than 4,500 nominations were received with more than 5,700 votes.
The event was sponsored by Q-Med and SilDerm and the compere for the evening was MyFaceMyBody’s Stephen Handisides.
The evening also helped to raise money for Smile Train, a charity which helps children with cleft lip and cleft palate. They provide free surgery to hundreds of thousands of poor children in developing countries, giving total rehabilitative care, including speech therapy, general dentistry and orthodontics.
Cosmetic News publisher Charlotte Body said, “We were delighted with the success of our first ever awards evening. We really felt there was a gap in the market for this type of event and were overwhelmed with the response from the industry with so many high calibre entries. It was fantastic to see so many people from the industry getting together to acknowledge and celebrate each other’s achievements. I would like to thank our Sponsors Q-Med and SilDerm and also the Cosmetic News team – Shuana Peters, Lisa Blatch, Lorraine Winter, Peter Johnson, Hollie Dunwell and Vicky Eldridge who worked so tirelessly to make sure everything came together and the event ran smoothly. This year’s awards were a sell out and we are already looking forward to 2012 when we are looking to move to a bigger venue - watch this space!”
