As the nights draw in and the days get shorter, the last of the Summer sun gradually fades and crisp Autumn mornings become the norm, Autumn is the perfect season for The Perfect Peel.

With the reduction in sunlight hours, now is the ideal time to address hyperpigmentation and UV ageing. In this blog, you will understand more about chemical peels (specifically looking at The Perfect Peel) and their benefits.

What is a Chemical Peel?

A Chemical Peel Treatment (chemexfoliation) involves the application of a chemical solution to the surface of the skin to produce the careful removal of its outer layers. The amount of skin removed will depend on the type of chemical used, the strength of the product (superficial, medium depth and deep) and how long it is left on the skin. Skin peels can be used on most areas of the body, but are commonly used on the face or the backs of the hands to improve rough skin texture; fine lines and wrinkles; age spots; sun damage; blemishes; scars or acne; and actinic keratosis (precancerous skin growth).

What is The Perfect Peel?

The Perfect Peel founded itself on a key anti-ageing ingredient, Glutathione, never used previously in a peel. Glutathione is the ultimate antioxidant, penetrating deep into the cellular level of the skin to fight oxidant damage, and is the anti-ageing answer to premature wrinkles. Our bodies naturally produce glutathione but as we age, however, our levels deplete due to sun exposure, air pollutants, environmental stress and the ageing process itself. Glutathione is also proven to reverse melanin’s metabolism, lightening dark pigmentations.

The Perfect Peel blends glutathione, kojic acid, TCA, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and a blend of minerals and vitamins, including vitamin C. Kojic acid is a powerful lightening agent, and proven to increase collagen and elastin production, resulting in skin that is brighter and tighter. TCA, phenol and retinoic acid reduce wrinkles and correct pigment problems, whilst salicylic acid exfoliates the skin and reduces inflammation. Alone the ingredients are powerful, but in combination they produce results that are astonishing.

What are the benefits of The Perfect Peel?

  • Improve the overall tone and texture of your skin
  • Lighten and brighten your skin
  • Remove or reduce sun damage and age spots
  • Reduce pore size and soften fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduce or eliminate Hyperpigmentation and acne scars

Can a chemical peel help improve acne and wrinkles?

The Perfect Peel formula was designed to help improve various problematic skin conditions. Acne is a major factor in what this treatment is tailored to resolve. The Perfect Peel helps minimise the damage and scarring done by acne. The Glutathione helps increase cellular turnover to dramatically improve stubborn acne scars. A series of peels will be necessary to diminish the damage and scarring.

The Perfect Peel will also help to erase fine lines and wrinkles, reduce enlarged pores, help build collagen and elastin, which will help to tighten and firm the skin. In addition, it will reduce or even eliminate Hyperpigmentation and Melasma. The treatment fights free radical damage to remove discoloration due to sun damage, and even out overall skin tone and complexion.

What is the chemical peel recovery process?

Immediately after The Perfect Peel has been applied the skin will either appear red, like a sunburn, or darker. On day three peeling will begin. The Perfect Peel home care moisturiser (included with each peel) will reduce the visibility of peeling by hydrating. By day six or seven the peeling process should be complete and the results are visibly astonishing.

Normal activities may be resumed immediately post peel.

Sun exposure should be limited if not avoided before and during the peeling process to avoid uneven exposure.

The day the peel is applied the patient should not put any make-up or other products on his or her face post peel. Makeup may be worn on day two of the peeling process.

How long does a chemical peel last?

The Perfect Peel may be applied initially every four weeks if necessary until the desired results are achieved. Thereafter, treatment is recommended once every 3-4 months to maintain improved skin results, as well as to prevent further aging and environmental damage.

Can The Perfect Peel be applied to other parts of the body, other than the face?

The face, neck, chest, and hands are the most commonly applied areas. The Perfect Peel can be applied to other areas of the body, but the process and the results will not necessarily be the same.
