Dermalux LED Light Therapy – the science behind the treatment

Posted on the 28 July 2016 at 08:00

When patients come to our clinic, they can’t fail to notice our amazing new piece of Aesthetic technology – the multi award-winning Dermalux LED Light Therapy machine. It’s an incredible piece of equipment that is totally non-invasive, and as a result, some people have been a little sceptical of its efficacy; that is, until they have tried it!

I don’t take on a new piece of equipment or start offering new treatments because they are a good deal or are the latest celebrity ‘fad’ – I appreciate that when patients come to our clinic with their unique skin issues, that they trust me to be open and honest with them about treatments and products that can really make a difference. As a result, I’m constantly reading about innovations in the aesthetic field and attending events and training sessions to ensure that I’m at the forefront of any technological and medical advances – innovations like the award winning Dermalux LED Phototherapy Treatment.

Dermalux LED Treatment uses LED Phototherapy to accelerate the body’s own natural healing process, and can effectively and safely treat a range of skin conditions including: Eczema, Dermatitis, Psoriasis, and Rosacea. It can also be used to improve a poor complexion and overall skin health. UV-free phototherapy has been used for decades in the management of common skin disorders including eczema and psoriasis, and Dermalux LED Phototherapy treatment builds on this knowledge and experience and harnesses the power of 3 different light waves (Red, Near Infra Red and Blue Light), each of which has very specific skin healing properties:

Dermalux™ LED Red Light has a rejuvenating and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin and also helps to increase hydration and stimulate circulation in the skin. It does this by ‘recharging the cell batteries' (mitochondria) so effectively works to give tired skin a boost, increasing hydration (which in turn reduces fine lines).

The combination of Red and near Infra-Red light is an effective treatment for Rosacea, and highlights the way that the different light waves can be used individually, or in combination with other light waves, to treat a variety of different skin issues.

Dermalux™ LED Blue Light has an anti-bacterial action which can be extremely effective in treating Acne and helping to prevent further breakouts without irritating the skin.

Dermalux™ LED Near Infra-Red Light is the most deeply absorbed wavelength by the skin and works effectively with Red Light to help promote the production of collagen, elastin and other growth factors in the skin to help counteract the visible signs of ageing and skin damage – making it a great treatment for fine lines and wrinkles.

In these uncertain times following the UK’s Brexit vote, another thing I love about the Dermalux LED Phototherapy equipment (apart from how great it is at treating a range of different skin conditions and promoting improved healing times and in some cases, more effective results for patients who have undergone our slightly more invasive aesthetic treatments) is the fact that it is a great celebration of all things British! The Dermalux LED Phototherapy Equipment was both designed and manufactured in Britain – a testament to the knowledge and skill of our Aesthetics Professionals - and has won prestigious Aesthetics Awards in 2013, 2014 and 2015!
