Top tips for choosing a cosmetic practitioner & treatment

Posted on the 12 November 2014 at 16:55

BBC news reported on 6th November that “Minor cosmetic procedures such as Botox injections and dermal fillers are ‘very safe’ when carried out by trained professionals, say researchers”.

A key point raised by the report was the fact that it has become increasingly easy for anyone to offer minor cosmetic procedures without thorough regulation.

Personally I am delighted the report has recognised that minor cosmetic procedures such as Botox injections and dermal fillers are ‘very safe’ when carried out by trained professionals. At my clinic, The Cosmetic Skin Clinic we have been providing non-surgical treatments for many years. Each and every one of our medical practitioners has advanced training and years of experience in aesthetic medicine. It is encouraging that Health Minister Dr. Dan Poulter has confirmed that new training standards for non-surgical cosmetic procedures are being developed to make sure that no one is given fillers or Botox by someone who isn’t qualified.

It may be useful when considering cosmetic treatments to follow the following basic guidelines:

  1. Thoroughly research your Practitioner/Clinic
  2. Enquire regarding the safety and efficacy of the products they are proposing to use, and whether they are (U.S.) FDA approved.
  3. Ask to see the practitioners own before/after photos
  4. Avoid being incentivised by ‘bargains’ or cut price deals.

Thank you for sharing these tips. It is really difficult to choose a good cosmetic surgeon in the current scenario. Before selecting a good practitioner we must ensure that the surgeon is board certified and also a well recognized person with years of practice in the cosmetic surgery industry. Because an experienced surgeon can only provide the best treatment with low rate of complications. I also did acne laser treatment from Fairview Cosmetic Surgery in Ontario last year. I was really frustrated with pimples and scars on my face. The treatment went well and I am really thankful to the doctor.
