Research your Practitioner.

Do plenty of it as this is a semi-permanent/permanent treatment. Along with skill and experience, there is an artistic element to cosmetic and medical micro pigmentation (also known as Dermagraphic Art). Style, treatment method and approach can vary from practitioner to practitioner.

A thorough pre-treatment consultation with your chosen practitioner should ideally be carried out as it can help avoid misunderstandings and regret. It is your chance to meet the person who will be treating you. Some companies/practitioners offer free consultations.

In the case of brow treatments, ask to have a design drawn on. It is important to feel comfortable with the new design before the actual treatment is started.

Ensure the chosen practitioner is fully qualified, insured and experienced and ideally registered with the Local Authority (as per Government Guidelines).

Premises should indicate a high standard of hygiene is being observed. All equipment and products should be of a high standard and the use of single-use products routine. The use of EU-approved pigments means that stringent safety testing will have been carried out.

  • Ask to see a person, not corporate, portfolio of work by your practitioner.
  • Ask to see testimonials. ‘Word of Mouth' recommendations are an excellent way of finding a reputable practitioner.
  • The treatment will normally involve 2 sessions, the initial treatment followed by a ‘top up’ 6 – 12 weeks later. Establish whether the price offered is for 1 or both treatments as it can be more expensive to pay separately. It can be a false economy in the long term to have a single-session treatment as an element of fading is normal between treatments.
  • A second treatment is recommended as colour and shape can be perfected during this session. It is far easier to add pigment than remove it.

Aftercare:

This is a vital part of the treatment. Time should be set aside during the treatment to be given verbal and written instructions on how to look after the treated area. Failure to follow this advice can lead to disappointing results.

Post-treatment Support:

You may have questions or concerns following treatment. Ensure your practitioner will be available by phone or at least email to give advice if needed.

Finally. Do not choose on the basis of price alone!
