Injectable Tissue Stimulators Background

Unlike dermal fillers which are aimed at mechanically filling wrinkles, folds and skin depressions, tissue stimulators are injectable products which cause a biological reaction in the tissue, upon injection, and thus stimulate the cells to produce new collagen growth. These products are therefore aimed as sculpting or volumising agents rather than simply skin fillers, examples include Sculptra®.

Injectable Tissue Stimulators Who Can Do It

Injectable Tissue Stimulators are categorised by the UK medical authorities as medical devices. This means that practitioners do not need to write a prescription to use these treatments.

Manufacturers recommend that only medically qualified practitioners, trained by them, should use injectable tissue stimulators. Thus you will find nurses, as well as general practitioners, cosmetic doctors, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and even some private dentists offering this treatment.

Manufacturers do not recommend that beauticians or any other person outside the medical profession use these treatments.

As there are many other injectable products, such as different dermal fillers, on the market, it is important that you ensure that your practitioner has undergone proper certificated training for the use of the specific injectable tissue stimulator, and the area that they are treating.

Please go to our Find a Clinic section to find a clinic or practitioner specialising in this treatment.
