The new skin plumping treatment, called Nithya, is being hailed as a safer alternative to botox. It was launched last week in Britain and its makers say that it stimulates collagen production in the skin rather than paralysing the muscles.

FDA Approves Antria Phase 2 Stem Cell Clinical Trials

Clinical research company Antria, Inc. today announced that the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the next step in medical research to help patients look younger using their own stem cells. Antria is the first company to gain FDA approval to initiate Phase 2 clinical trials with autologous adipose derived stem cells (ADSC) for plastic surgery. Antria completed the first phase of research in May 2014, which showed promising results.

Judges Side With FDA in Rejecting Stem Cell Device

A federal appeals court has sided with the Food and Drug Administration in a case brought by medical device maker Cytori, ruling that the agency was correct to reject fast-track approval for two company devices used to process adult stem cells. Cytori Therapeutics Inc. makes the Celution and StemSource devices which separate adult stem cells from fat tissue using a combination of spinning motions and chemical reactions.
